Blacktown Sound Labs is a happy fun place.

We've taken a lovely century-and-a-half-old school building located an hour north of Pittsburgh, PA, and turned it into a community project studio. It's a collaboration space for musicians and other artists who love the Pennsylvania hills. We jam, record, and create... mostly though we just hang out there and listen to vinyl records.

We like to make recordings that will stand the test of time. We value sonic fidelity and the natural nuances of human performance above power and perfection. We want to hear the room the piano was recorded in. A snare drum, when played back, should still sound like a snare drum. When artificial conveniences go out of style, we want music to still sound good. We believe that the best way to accomplish this is to make recordings that sound human.

As a result of our preferences and techniques, our recordings may sound "different".
We're cool with that.

Unfortunately we've had to scale back our publicly-available recording services due to time constraints, but we hope to keep recording occasionally.
